Product Description

The American AZ Hive

The American AZ Hive is full of basic information on the AZ hive from the perspective of the author, Debra. The book gives a realistic look at how the AZ hive functions in simple terms and answers the common questions asked about the AZ hive. It includes some basic history of the AZ hive and information about what the hive and beehouse are like, as well as how the hive works and how to work in the AZ hive. It also includes some designs for the hive and accessories that Debra is using. She chose to write about the American version of the AZ hive as that size of frame is most relatable within the U.S. and the design she uses due to no lifting and protection from the weather.

Debra Langley-Boyer

Tahuya, Washington State

Debra lives in the Pacific Northwest woods with her husband, Dean. She has a small pasture for her chickens and bees. She started learning about beekeeping in 2016 by taking classes, joining a local club and volunteering at their apiary. In 2017 she designed and built her own AZ hives, worked club bees, and then got her first bees in the late spring. She has obtained her Journeyman & Master certifications. Her love for education has kept her busy teaching, presenting and running Facebook group -AZ Hives- Pacific Northwest. In May of 2023 she took a trip to Slovenia to study beekeeping in Slovenia as AZ hives are predominant and started there. Debra loves beekeeping and her AZ hives.

Debra grew up in a military family moving several times. She always had many animals from bunnies, birds, dogs, cats to horses and llamas. She has always done outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and fishing. As an adult Debra was a teacher and active volunteer in a variety of areas such as Camp Fire, kids & teens activities, scholarships for others, crisis line, outdoor & environmental education, Leave No Trace and llama packing. She continues volunteering and educating now with bees, her latest hobby. Her future plans include continuous learning, teaching about bees and the AZ hives.
